Management and upkeep

Manage your website with your own AI via MCP

Put your website online from €9 per month

Free migration. We move your site and help you over WhatsApp, Monday to Sunday, 9:00 to 21:00.

In short

  • With MCP you connect Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP app to your hosting plan. Your AI can then use your files, backups, DNS, mail, WordPress login link and invoices, within what you allow.
  • You paste one address from the portal, log in with a link we mail you and choose read only or manage per website.
  • Major actions ask for your approval in the portal. You pause or revoke the connection at any time.
  • Changing a subscription or payment and registering a domain are marked as coming soon. The rest is available.

You had your website built with an AI. It makes sense to ask that same AI to update it. With MCP that works directly: you connect your AI to your hosting plan and say “put this new version online”. You choose what is allowed, and you revoke access yourself whenever you like.

What is MCP in plain words?

MCP is a standard that lets an AI app talk to other services. Think of it as a power socket: the AI app has the plug, the service has the socket. We have made a socket for your hosting plan. Apps that support custom connectors, such as Claude and ChatGPT, can plug in.

Without MCP, you copy files out of a conversation yourself, open an SFTP program and click through your portal. With MCP, your AI does that in the conversation itself. The MCP page shows what it looks like.

What can your AI do?

Each part has a label on the MCP page. This is available:

PartWhat your AI can do with it
Website and filesSee how your site is doing, edit files of a static site and put a new version online
BackupsMake a backup, or restore one, with a safety copy first
DNSView and edit the DNS settings of your domain
MailMailboxes and addresses for your domain
WordPressA one-time login link to your WordPress
Invoices and supportLook up invoices and start a conversation with us

Two parts are marked as coming soon: changing your subscription and payment details, and registering or moving a domain name. There the price comes into view first and every action involving money asks for your approval. Until then you arrange that in the portal or via a WhatsApp message.

This is about the files of your website itself, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images and fonts. The .htaccess file and PHP files you put online with SFTP, or you ask us. We also check what your AI uploads for keys that were sent along by accident. If we find one, the file only goes online when you choose: edit it, publish it anyway with your approval, or ask us for help. Handy if your AI leaves an API key in the code.

How to connect your AI

The exact menu names differ per app and change regularly. The idea is the same everywhere.

  1. In the portal, open the Connect your AI page and copy the Klappe Hosting address.
  2. In your AI app, add a custom connector and paste the address. In Claude that goes via Customize, Connectors and then adding a custom connector. In ChatGPT you look for Connectors in the settings (if Developer mode is listed there, switch it on) and add a custom connector with OAuth as the login method.
  3. The app opens a Klappe Hosting window. We mail you a login link. You do not need a password or a token to pass around.
  4. Choose read only or manage, per website, and choose Allow.
  5. Switch the connector on in a conversation and ask your question.

Do you work in Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code? They are on the same page in the portal, with a command or a small configuration file. If none of the apps fits, you create an access key (personal token) on the same page. Do you have a team subscription with Claude or ChatGPT? Then an administrator sometimes has to add the connector first. Send us a WhatsApp message if you get stuck, and we will look along with you.

Examples of what you can ask

You write ordinary sentences. A few that work well:

  • “How is my site doing? Is the SSL certificate fine and when was the last backup?”
  • “Make a backup and then put the new text on the contact page.”
  • “Put this new version online.” You paste the files or a zip, your AI sets them up.
  • “Restore yesterday’s version, the menu has stopped working.”
  • “Which DNS records does my domain have? Add a TXT record for Google Search Console.”
  • “Which mailboxes and addresses does my domain have?”
  • “Give me a login link for my WordPress.”
  • “Find my latest invoice.”

Every change to your files becomes a new version of your site, and the previous one is kept so you can go back to it. If you want to know more about what backups look like, read Backups and updates for your AI website.

Read only or manage

You choose this when connecting, per website:

  • Read only. Your AI can look: the status of your site, backups, files, DNS records, mail settings and invoices. Nothing changes.
  • Manage. Your AI can also change things: write files, make or restore a backup, edit DNS and mail and create a WordPress login link.

For your first time, read only is a calm start. Let your AI make a round first and see what it sees. If you want it to change something later, you connect again and choose manage.

You keep your hand on the wheel

An AI is fast, and sometimes faster than you want. That is why there are a few steps built in:

  • Approval for major actions. Your AI first tells you what is going to happen and asks for your confirmation, for example for restoring a backup. For the heaviest actions, such as deleting a site or database, you give your approval via a link in the portal. Your AI cannot give that approval itself.
  • Restoring with a safety copy. Before a restore, the system makes a copy of the current state.
  • Overview in your portal. Under Connected apps you see which apps are connected, what they have done and when.
  • Revoking and pausing. You revoke one app, or you pause all AI access in one go. From that moment that app has no access any more.

You never give your password to your AI. The login runs through the link in your mail and the permission you give in the window.

How does this fit with your AI website?

You can see MCP as the last step of the whole story. First you build with an AI tool, then you put the site online on your own domain (see Putting your AI website online), and from then on you maintain it with the same AI. Do you need an export to keep a copy of your own? Exporting an AI website to zip or GitHub explains that. If you come from Claude, the route is in Putting your Claude website online.

No hosting yet? The Website plan costs € 9 per month, excluding VAT. You choose it in the order form and all plans are on the pricing page. For each AI tool you will find the explanation on the pages for Claude and ChatGPT.

Frequently asked questions

What is MCP?

MCP is a standard that lets an AI assistant work with other services. With us it means your AI can use your hosting plan without you switching between files and screens yourself.

Can my AI just delete something?

If you choose read only, your AI cannot change anything. With manage, your AI first asks for your confirmation for major actions, and the heaviest ones, such as deleting a site or database, ask for your approval in the portal. You can pause or revoke everything at any time.

Which AI apps work with it?

Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and other apps that support a custom MCP connector. The portal has an explanation for each app.

Can my AI change my subscription or domain?

That is marked as coming soon. Every action involving money will only happen after your approval.
